- Put coverage time and image count on the line — "4 hrs + 80 edited images" is what the client is buying
- Name the shoot location: clients who booked two venues match invoices to places, not dates
- Give a delivery date for the files, not only a price
- If a booking deposit was paid, record it in Notes and invoice the remaining balance
❓ FAQ
Deposit and balance — one invoice or two?
Most photographers take a deposit to hold the date and invoice the balance after the shoot. Note the deposit received and bill what is left; see our Retainer Invoice for standing bookings.
Should the package contents be on the invoice?
Yes. "2 hr event coverage, online gallery, 60 downloads" makes the price self-explanatory and reduces "what happened to the rest of the photos?" conversations later.
Do I have to charge sales tax?
Tax obligations can depend on the service or goods, where the sale is sourced and registration rules. Check whether you must register or collect tax and which rate applies before setting the invoice rate.
